Nasrallah: Martyrdom of Gen. Soleimani and al-Muhandis a turning point in the history of the region

BEIRUT, (ST)- Secretary General of the Lebanese Hizbollah resistance movement Hassan Nasrallah has stressed that the martyrdom of resistance men, General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy Commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) on January 2nd, 2020 is a turning point in the history of the region and it marks the start of a new era.

Speaking in Hezbollah memorial ceremony in Dahiyeh area, Nasrallah offers condolences to the families of the martyrs who had fallen as a result of a US strike on Baghdad airport last Friday.

“We find ourselves before a heinous crime whose perpetrators are very clear,” Nasrallah said indicating that the US President Donald Trump announced he has ordered the strike.

Previous attempts to assassinate General Soleimnai have failed and all forms of pressure by Trump couldn’t subdue Iran, he pointed out.

Hizbollah Chief went on to say that throughout three years of his administration, Trump has failed to reach the goals he set at the beginning of his term.

Trump was very clear, he wanted to control oil in Iraq and he has been using ISIS as a pretext to control Iraq and its wealth, Nasrallah said.

This US scheme in Iraq has failed thanks to General Suleimani and Al-Muhandis who fought ISIS, he stressed.

Nasrallah went on to say that America and Israel have relied on the terrorist organizations in Syria to implement their sinister schemes, but they have failed.

“Trump has abandoned the Kurds, who were his allies, and his decision concerning the withdrawal of American troops from Syria represents his confusion, because it is not clear whether he wants to withdraw troops or redeploy them in a bid to control the oil fields there,” Nasrallah said.

He affirmed that America wants to terrorize the axis of resistance and the new US aggression marks the start of a new kind of American war in the region. Therefore , the minimum retaliation for the assassination of General Soleimani and Al-Muhandis is to expel foreign forces from Iraq and liberate it from US troops.
