The ISIL Takfiri group is doomed to suffer defeat, Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Iraq’s Vice President Nouri al-Maliki say.
Nasrallah and Maliki expressed their “absolute trust in the inevitability of the victory of the people and the governments of the region against the ISIL and groups resembling it,” the statement issued by the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah said.
Groups like ISIL and “their destructive plans don’t have a future in any country in the region,” the statement read.
The two officials also underscored “the importance of cooperation to confront sectarian strife and Takfiri movements,” according to the statement.
Al-Maliki arrived in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, for talks with senior officials on developments in the region.
“One cannot hold talks, especially in Lebanon, without tackling the issue of combating terrorism,” Maliki said after his arrival, adding, “The region has become rife with terrorism and the countries have become unstable and perhaps a new map for the region is in the making.”
Commenting on Iraq’s fight against the Takfiri group, Maliki said he is “very optimistic” that the Arab country will be the ISIL group’s “graveyard.”
The ISIL terrorists currently control swaths of territory across Iraq and neighboring Syria where they have been committing heinous crimes.
Hezbollah to continue backing resistance against Zionist entity
On the other hand, Hezbollah’s deputy secretary general says the Lebanese resistance movement will continue its support for Palestinian groups resisting against the Israeli regime, Press TV reports.
“We support all forms of resistance that the Palestinians used. This is their legitimate right to confront their enemy. Hezbollah is based on resisting occupation, this is our main goal,” Sheikh Naim Qassem told an international conference held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Senior members of Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements as well as representatives from around the world took part in the Second Global Convention of Solidarity with Palestine on Tuesday.
The participants at the conference expressed support for the Palestinian cause, discussing ways to increase resistance against the Israeli regime.
Senior Hamas official Ismail Haniyeh joined the conference via satellite from the Gaza Strip to emphasize the right of Palestinians to return to their homeland.
“We must stand with Gaza, which had to endure a blockade for more than seven years as well as multiple wars. It is the resistance who forced the Israeli enemy to leave Gaza,” said Haniyeh.
“The Zionist enemy will not achieve its goals with its aggression because the resistance has the upper hand,” he added.
Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali, another participant at the conference, said, “This conference brings unity and cooperation between all denominations of Muslims as well as non-Muslims. The conference had a lot of attendees from Latin and North America. We hope that the result of this conference is to bring unity between all Palestinian factions.”
The conference comes as the Gaza Strip has been under Israeli siege since 2007.
In the recent weeks there have been high tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories over the desecration of Jerusalem Al-Quds by Israelis .
