Nasrallah: Defending Aleppo Means Defending Lebanon, Syria and Iraq

BEIRUT, (ST)- The participation of the Lebanese resistance in the war on terrorism in Syria aims, beside at supporting the Syrian army against takfiri terrorists, at defending Lebanon, because Lebanon’s future and destiny can’t be separated from what is going on in Syria, Hizbollah Secretary General Hasan Nasrallah said in a speech on Friday marking 40 days after the martyrdom of Hizbollah commander Mustafa Badreddine in a terrorist attack in Syria.

” By fighting to defend Aleppo we defend Syria, Lebanon, Iraq  and even Jordan which was the target of a terrorist attack several days ago, ” Nasrallah stressed, pointing out that resistance will send more fighters to back the Syrian army’s battle against the US-Saudi takfiri scheme which targets the entire region.

What is going on in Aleppo is a “fierce battle”, but there has been a Gulf-funded  media campaign to broadcast lying reports about Hezbollah fighters having been defeated in the Syrian city of Aleppo, Nasrallah said.

He clarified that over 600 terrorists, including ring leaders and field commanders, were killed and some 80 tanks and military vehicles were destroyed in joint operations by the Syrian army and resistance fighters against the terrorist organizations in Aleppo in June alone.

Nasrallah referred to the important achievements made in Aleppo, saying that the liberated area was expanded and security perimeters were set up around the city, the road to the city became open and the siege was broken. He reiterated that what happened in Aleppo over the past few months was historical steadfastness in the face of most heinous conspiracy.
