Nabhan: Western economic measures against Syria are a violation of international legitimacy

Geneva (ST): Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Muhammad Firas Nabhan called for lifting the unilateral Western economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.

Nabhan stressed during a speech at the ministerial meeting of labor ministers for Asia and the Pacific at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva that the economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian people constitute a flagrant violation of international legitimacy and contradict the Declaration of Human Rights and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Nabhan affirmed the need to work to establish decent work standards and labor market governance in a way that strengthens the foundations of social justice, explaining that Syria is still facing an unjust terrorist war supported by the colonial countries with the aim of sabotaging all the economic and social gains of the Syrian people.
