Mrs. Asma Al-Assad shares with locals in Al-Fakhoura village in Lattakia their celebration on restoring their fire-affected lands   

First Lady, Mrs. Asma Al-Assad on Friday shared with the people of Al-Fakhoura district in Lattakia countryside their celebration on their success in overcoming the impacts of the fire that hit their district as well as other towns and villages in countryside of Lattakia.

The celebration comes following two years of tireless work to restore thousands of hectares of land in many villages in Lattakia and Tartous.

Speaking to the farmers, producers and micro-sized projects owners, Mrs. Asma said that “about two years ago, Mr. President and I visited this area after the fires. The scene was painful and very hard.. It was painful for all of us as Syrians, but it was more painful for you, the people of this land and the people of these villages.”

“It was easy for a person to give up and lose hope at that time, particularly as most of trees were turned into ashes because of the fires, but, you did not give up. You didn’t only try to find urgent relief solutions represented in grants and donations, but you also thought of development and long-term and sustainable projects,” Mrs. Asma went on to say.

“What you have achieved in this area within a short time is a victory and an important experience for all of us, not only because we restored the greenness of these lands, but also because we made these lands better. We managed to overcome this big dilemma and we can surpass any other dilemma through faith, strong will, good planning and hard work,” she clarified.

“Mr. President and I are proud of you, proud of your love and belonging to your land… proud of your vitality and the great results you have achieved in such a short period of time,” she added,

“We love you so much and we will surely continue to work with you to bring back the greenness of all the fire-affected lands”, she stressed.
