Mrs. Asma Al-Assad makes video calls with three children receiving treatment in UAE after serious injuries in recent earthquake
Mrs. Asma Al-Assad on Saturday made video calls to ask about the health conditions of three Syrian children, who were injured in the earthquake that hit Syria last month and who are currently receiving treatment at hospitals in the United Arab Emirates.
Mrs. Asma made the first call with the 9-year-old Syrian girl Sham Al-Sheikh Mohammad, who lost some of her family members in the earthquake and who is currently at the Burjeel hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE, receiving treatment. The two other calls were made with the 9-year-old boy Ali Raffouh, whose parents died in the earthquake, and with the father of the injured child Ali Yousef, 12. Both Children are currently receiving treatment at Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
Under direct follow up and attention by Mrs. Asma al-Assad, these three children, as well as other children from Aleppo, Idlib and Lattakia, were flown to UAE more than two weeks ago for emergency medical treatment of crush injuries due to the earthquake. The children were transferred to Abu Dhabi thanks to a humanitarian initiative by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, the President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the honorary president of the UAE Red Crescent.
