Mrs. Asma Al-Assad: Creative education can be achieved through closely connecting science and knowledge to identity and belonging

Damascus – First Lady, Mrs. Asma Al-Assad on Monday visited the Distinction and Creativity Agency and met heads of the specialized scientific committees.

“ The sublime equation that the Syrians have established, especially in the past decade, is that the more difficult the circumstances and challenges are, the more the Syrians adhere to science in general, and to creative education in particular” Mrs. Asma said during the meeting.

“The participation of thousands of young Syrian students in the Syrian Science Olympiad proves this, the First Lady added,  pointing out that the Syrian family seeks knowledge and challenge and sees the future of its children in their education that can be a strong weapon in the face of all challenges.

Mrs. Asma underlined the need to strengthen the system of free thinking, and consolidate the principles of analysis and dialogue in order to reach a complete system of creative education and deepen it so that it turns into a complete life concept for students.

The first lady stressed that this can only be achieved in parallel with consolidating the science and knowledge’s connection with identity and belonging, which leads to a strong, educated generation that is keen on its homeland.

Heads of the specialized scientific committees, for their part, affirmed that they are proud to be the nucleus of a national project whose goal is to build generations that are empowered with science and knowledge, and committed to their roots and their homeland.

More than 8,000 male and female students competed in the 2023 Syrian Science Olympiad.

Syria has won more than twenty international awards, including two silver medals in the International Chemistry Olympiad held in Switzerland, and a silver medal in the World Robotics Olympiad held in Panama.
