Mrs. Asma Al-Assad attends the opening ceremony of the “Jareeh Al-Watan” Sports Games in Lattakia

Mrs. Asma Al-Assad has declared that the wounded personnel are capable to remove all obstacles and to move on, expressing her pride in the spirit of challenge that the participants in the “Jareeh Al-Watan” [ The wounded of the Homeland] Sports Games has. 
 
“I am proud of your spirit of challenge, which has made you remain strong and steadfast after injury …It is the same spirit that has made you overcome all obstacles,” Mrs. Al-Assad said addressing the wounded athletes, who are participating in the sport games.
 
She indicated that the importance of the activity of the “Wounded of the Homeland” Games does not only come from the fact that it is being  held for the first time, but from consolidating the reality that the wounded are capable to move on, and this is not just a slogan, but a reality with their will and solidarity.
 
“Through your participation in this activity,  you convey a message of hope and resilience, this is a message that everyone should learn from you,” Mrs. Al-Assad added.
 
The opening ceremony of the “Jareeh Al-Watan” sports games was held on Friday at the al-Assad Sports City in Lattakia in the presence of the first lady. 
 
About 100 wounded participants from the Syrian  Army, the Internal Security Forces and the allied forces will compete in swimming, table tennis, basketball, badminton, athletics and physical strength games, along with participants from the Russian Federation and Iraq.
 
The “Wounded of Homeland” project said that SYP 900.000 will be given to the wounded who wins the first place, SYP 800.000 to the winners of the second place and SYP 700.000 to the winners of the third place.
