MoU signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Norwegian Refugee Council

Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Ahmed al -Qadri has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Representative of Norwegian Refugee Council, Anna Kyrevi.

The Minister explained that the goal of this Memo is to promote cooperation between the Ministry and the Council in the field of agriculture, providing and distributing agricultural inputs as aid and grants to rural households and implementing small-scale income-generating projects to help achieve localization and stability to farmers affected by the crisis and help them settle in their villages.

 Mrs. Kyreva showed that the Council seeks developing a number of plans in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture carrying out projects that enable farmers to meet part of the their basic needs.

The Norwegian Refugee Council is an NGO and its aid reaches to more than 30 countries. It provide support in food, educational and relief fields. The Council began its activities in Syria at the beginning of the crisis to support the government’s efforts along with a number of international organizations and NGOs.
