Moscow: Washington should not question our determination to protect our sovereignty by all means
Washington (ST): Russia called on the United States to have foresight and never to cast doubt on its intention to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, in response to US media reports about plans, allegedly prepared by Washington to strike Russian targets.
The Russian Embassy in Washington, in a statement reported by RIA Novosti Agency, drew attention to the article published by the American magazine “Newsweek”, in which unidentified representatives from the Pentagon were quoted as saying that there will be a possible American reaction to the hypothesis of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons, and among “the lunatic options” being investigated is the so-called beheading blow “in the heart of the Kremlin”.
The embassy added, “We hope that these ideas and such nonsense will not be a reflection of the official position of the US military administration, and we proceed from the fact that Washington is well aware of the escalatory nature of such reckless rhetoric.”
The diplomatic mission called on the US Department of Defense not to doubt Russia’s determination to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and people by all available means.
