Moscow warns that failure to resolve the ME numerous crises will escalate tension

MOSCOW, Apr.14, (ST)- Russia expressed its concern over the dangerous escalation in the Middle East region, calling on all parties to exercise restraint.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released today: “Large numbers of missiles and drones were launched from the territory of Iran, and the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that this attack came within the framework of the right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of UN Charter, and in response to attacks that had targeted Iranian targets in the region, including the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which Russia firmly condemned.”

It added: “We have repeatedly warned that failure to resolve the numerous crises in the Middle East, primarily in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict area, which are often provoked by irresponsible provocative actions, will result in an escalation of tension.”

The ministry  expressed its regret that the UN Security Council has not  taken an appropriate reaction due to the positions of the Western countries in the Council.

It stressed the need to resolve controversial issues in the region through political and diplomatic means and with the contribution of positive-minded international players.
