Moscow warns NATO of deploying troops in Sweden and Finland

On November 30th, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko considered that the deployment of NATO forces in Sweden and Finland will lead to a deterioration in the security of the alliance itself.

“After Sweden and Finland join NATO, the alliance will deploy additional forces on their lands, and they will enter into a unified defense system, and they will become part of NATO’s defense plans,” Grushko was quoted as saying by TASS news agency.

Grushko explained that “NATO members will force them to accept foreign army units on their lands and deploy additional forces, which will lead to a deterioration of military security and NATO itself, and create additional risks for it.”

Grushko added that “the negative impact will affect not only the state of European security, but also regional security.” in the north”.

Regarding Russia’s position on this, Grushkosaid: “We will study possible measures to ensure the interests of defense and security, depending on what will happen on the ground.”

Grushko pointed out that Finland and Sweden are now turning from symbols of military non-alignment into a periphery of NATO, and this is unfortunate.
