Moscow warns against Washington’s interference into Ukraine’s affairs

MOSCOW_ Moscow has brought to the notice of Washington the idea that interference into domestics processes in Ukraine might entail very serious consequences, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with the Rossiiskaya Gazeta daily on Friday.

According to Ryabkov, the situation in Ukraine was discussed with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland, when she was in Moscow several days ago. “By the way, after our contact Ms Nuland said she had focused attention on this subject when speaking with Russian representatives,” he noted.

 “We think it is incorrect to retell what is going on at behind-the-closed-doors consultations or diplomatic contacts, but I can assure you that we sent via Ms Nuland all necessary signals to the United States to be maximally cautious about interfering into domestic processes in Ukraine, since it can be fraught with serious consequences,” the Russian diplomat stressed. “But it looks like Washington has lent a deaf ear again.”

 “Some comments that came from American representatives in the recent days are really dumbfounding,” he noted. “They cannot be even called recommendations, they are categorical demands to the Ukrainian leaders worded in a very tough way and revealing a course we cannot quite understand and a certain play of emotions.
