Moscow: US’s confiscating of Venezuelan president’s plane is new evidence of Washington’s disregard for international laws
Russia confirmed that the United States, by confiscating the plane of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, expressed complete disregard for the standards of international laws, reiterating its solidarity with Caracas in this regard.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday in an official statement published on the official Foreign Ministry page that the United States, by confiscating Maduro’s presidential plane, once again demonstrated the prevailing thought among its politicians about the possibility of confiscating and disposing of other countries’ sovereign property, noting that Washington’s violations of sanctions do not Know limits.
Zakharova considered that the United States, in light of its neo-colonial enthusiasm, seized the Venezuelan presidential plane, which was undergoing maintenance in the Dominican Republic, once again showing complete disregard for international legal standards.
She pointed out that this is not the first time that Washington has seized a plane from Caracas. At the beginning of this year, a Venezuelan transport plane was seized in Argentina at the request of an American.
Zakharova added “But the current seizure was carried out with a special imperialist arrogance and with the pretense of morality, which constitutes proof to everyone that no one and nothing is protected from sanctioned theft, whether it is business assets, bank reserves, real estate or vehicles.
Zakharova renewed Russia’s support for Venezuela’s legitimate demands to recover what was stolen from it, saying: “We stand in solidarity with them in their continued determination to defend their independence and sovereignty.”
The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Tuesday ” The United States has once again committed a repeated criminal practice that can only be described as an act of piracy, by illegally confiscating an aircraft used by the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro”.
