Moscow Urges Including Kurds in Intra-Syrian Talks in Geneva

GENEVA, (ST)-  Russian Ambassador to the UN Office in Geneva Alexey Borodavkin announced on Saturday that Russia will continue to support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura as to reach political solution to the crisis in Syria.  He also praised the decision made by de Mistura to focus on counterterrorism during the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva, calling it a “very positive development”.

 “We have always supported the efforts of Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, his team and his office. They show their recent determination to actively facilitate the negotiation process, as well as act in a balanced way, seek the way forward, bring up new balanced correct proposals,” Borodavkin said, according to Sputnik.

The Russian diplomat reaffirmed the need to have full representation of all “opposition” forces in the Geneva intra-Syrian talks including the Kurds.
