Moscow: The West is working to destabilize Iran using false pretexts

Geneva, (ST) –  Russia confirmed that Western countries use false humanitarian pretexts as a tool to destabilize countries that refuse to comply with its dictates, and Iran is a good example of that.

TASS quoted Stanislav Kovpak, a member of the Russian delegation to the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, as saying: “Russia has always rejected attempts to politicize issues related to human rights, which the West uses as a tool to pressure countries that do not wish to follow the path imposed on them from abroad.”

“Western engagement with Iran, for example, clearly shows how Western countries use false humanitarian pretexts to continue their well-known approach of working to destabilize the internal situation in countries they do not like, including by inciting riots and violence,” Kovpak said.

Kovpak said that the illegal sanctions imposed by Western countries on Iran are unacceptable, especially in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic, from which no country has been spared, as they prevent the country from purchasing medicines to treat serious diseases, including medicines for children. He stressed that “these sanctions show clearly falsify the West’s false statements about their alleged concern for the rights of the Iranian people.
