MOSCOW- Russia has no doubt that Jabhet al-Nusra (al-Nusra Front) will get western weapons if they are delivered to Syria, stressed Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
In a statement to the “Russia Today” Channel on Thursday, Lavrov said that Russia’s difference with Western countries is related to the way of settling the crisis in Syria not to the final goals. He stressed that all concerned parties don’t want the “Iraqi scenario” to be repeated in Syria.
Lavrov said that the Syrian government has informed Moscow about its agreement on G8 summit recommendations and has renewed readiness to take part in the forthcoming international conference scheduled to discuss Syria in Geneva.
Meantime, Lavrov pointed out that the western countries aren’t sure that they can convince the “Syrian opposition” of the need to participate in the conference.
