Moscow: Russian helicopter forced to land in Syria’s Hasakah due to technical reasons

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that a Russian Mi-35 helicopter made an emergency landing during a patrol mission in Syria’s Hasakah due to technical reasons, stressing that the lives of its crew were not in danger.

The ministry’s statement came to clarify news about the crash of a Russian helicopter in Syria’s Hasakah.

The ministry made it clear that “on February 28, 2021 during a routine flight aimed at patrolling the territory of the Syrian governorate of Hasakah, the Mi-35 helicopter was forced to land due to technical reasons.”

 According to the ministry, the helicopter’s crew members were immediately taken to an airfield by a rescue service, stressing that nothing was endangering the pilots’ lives.

The crew affirmed that there had been no fire effect on the helicopter,” the ministry pointed out.

Earlier news reports said that the helicopter fell between the villages of Al-Reyhaniya and Al-Qasimia, to the west of Tal Tamer in the northwestern countryside of Hasakah.
