Moscow: Russia has received around 4 million refugees from Ukraine, DPR and LPR

Russia has received some 4 million refugees from Ukraine, the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), the Russian Foreign Ministry has announced, clarifying that more than half of these refugees are Ukrainian citizens who voluntarily sought refuge in Russia.

In a statement on Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said “we received the biggest number of refugees from Ukraine, the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR). They number 4 million, including 625,000 children and the UN Commissioner for Refugees stresses that 2.4 million of these refugees are Ukrainian citizens.”

“All these refugees came to Russia voluntarily and they live freely in the country as no one prevent them from moving or leaving,” the ministry said, pointing out that the UN Human Rights Commissioner stressed this fact.

Most of the refugees feel gratitude for Russia and admit that they fled Ukraine to save their lives and to avoid the atrocities committed by Kiev regime which uses them as human shields, the ministry added.
