Moscow: Principles of safety against chemical and biological weapons not valid anymore in the light of current developments
The Russian Foreign Ministry has stressed that the principles of safety against chemical and biological weapons, which were signed 30 years ago, are no longer valid in the light of the current international developments and there must be a solution for this issue.
Konstantin Vorontsov, Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Non-proliferation and Arms Control called on the UN General Assembly to put this issue among its priorities as to prevent the proliferation of chemical and biological terrorism and the new systematic techniques innovated by some countries.
Vorontsov called on the UN Chief Antonio Guterres to conduct a questionnaire to get the UN member states’ views and proposals on this issue and to present them in the form of a report within the agenda of the 87th Session of the General Assembly.
