Moscow (ST): Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vasilyevich Vershinin has announced that the meeting of the guarantor states of the Astana Process on Syria would be held in Iran when health conditions allow because of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Russian Sputnik News Agency quoted Vershinin as saying in a statement ” We have agreed to hold the forthcoming summit of the guarantor states in Iran when epidemiological conditions allow for holding it,” noting that there was a political will for holding the meeting and referring to the effectiveness of the Astana Process in resolving the crisis in Syria.
Last July, the leaders of the three guarantor states affirmed in a joint communique their commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
