Moscow calls on Washington to get rid of its chemical arsenal

Washington (ST): The Russian embassy in Washington called on the United States to destroy its chemical arsenal, noting that Moscow got rid of its weapons of this type a few years ago.

Russia Today website quoted the embassy as saying in a comment published today on its Telegram channel: “The local media continues to repeat the hateful accusations that the US administration is spreading against our country for allegedly violating the chemical agreement. After the officials, the journalists are also speaking without evidence about the chemical weapons arsenal that we still maintain  and plan to use in Ukraine.”

The embassy stressed that Russia completely destroyed chemical weapons in 2017, and this fact was confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, explaining that the United States, not Russia, is the only country participating in the Chemical Weapons Convention that has not yet disposed of its stockpiles of toxic war materials.
