Moscow: Attempts to include Ukraine in NATO are pushing towards conflict escalation

On June 29th, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the inclusion of Ukraine in NATO will lead to an escalation of the existing conflict, will impede the negotiations.

“If Paris really wants to put Ukraine at the negotiating table, then it should not escalate the conflict by implicating NATO, but rather exert pressure on Vladimir Zelensky’s regime and those in charge of it from Washington.” and London”, Novosti quoted the Foreign Ministry as saying, commenting on Paris’ plans to support Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

The ministry stated that, based on the West’s proposals, Kiev refused to continue dialogue with Russia to resolve the situation in Ukraine, and that promises to Ukraine to join NATO pushed it towards aggressive behavior.

The Foreign Ministry stated that in order to stop the killing of citizens in Donbass, and to prevent the development of events there, Russia was forced to launch the special military operation, which among its objectives is the disarmament of Ukraine, as well as securing its neutral status.

The Foreign Ministry added that as Russian President Vladimir Putin said, these goals are of a fundamental nature to us, and they will be achieved.

In recent years, Russia has repeatedly announced NATO’s unprecedented activity along its western borders, expressing concern about the mobilization of coalition forces in Europe, and warning of attempts to include new countries close to its borders into this alliance.
