Moscow and Beijing to enhance efforts to attain stability in Syria

MOSCOW, (ST)- The situation in Syria and the work of the committee for discussing  the Syrian constitution were the theme of the meeting of the Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin with China’s Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the two sides exchanged view points on developments in Syria, including those connected with the situation on the ground and with the procedures that must be take to solve urgent humanitarian issues.

 They also discussed the political process on Syria in the light of the direct dialogue between the Syrian sides within the framework of the Constitutional Committee’s activities in Geneva.

  The Russian and Chinese sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination for the attainment of lasting stability and security in Syria and its neighboring countries.
