More than 92 percent of the Winter Vegetable Cultivation Plan in Sweida completed

The area cultivated with winter vegetables in Sweida province has exceeded 92 percent of the total plan which includes the cultivation of 3,330 dunums with these crops.

Assistant Director of agriculture in Sweida Alaa Shuhaib said in a statement to SANA reported today that the areas planted with winter vegetables have reached 3070 dunums, indicating that cultivation is continuing in some locations in Salkhad area.

Engineer Shuhaib explained that some types of winter vegetables grown in Sweida exceeded the cultivation plan, such as onions 375 percent, cauliflower 120 percent and cabbage 103 percent.

The engineer, Shuhaib, pointed out that the winter vegetables in Sweida are irrigated by taking advantage of the wells, and they are concentrated in the western area of the governorate, pointing out that the Directorate encourages to grow the vegetables within the set plans.

Sweida governorate produced more than 3,600 tons of winter vegetables last season.
