More Than 500 Displaced Families Return to Their Houses in Beit Jinn

DAMASCUS, (ST)- More than 500 displaced families have returned to their houses in Beit Jinn village in Damascus southwestern countryside after the Syrian Arab army in cooperation with backup forces restored complete security and stability to the area.

Most of the locals of Beit Jinn were displaced because of the crimes of the terrorists of Jbahat al-Nusra and other armed groups. They have sought refuge in other villages and towns of Damascus Countryside for almost six years.

SANA reporter said that the return of the families came in completion of the agreement reached to allow the gunmen who wanted to continue fighting to leave Beit Jinn to Idleb. The agreement also helped settle the legal status of other gunmen who wanted to stay after handing over their arms.

The displaced people retuned after the process of handing over  the terrorists’ heavy and medium weapons was completed and the army units entered the area to clear it of mines and explosive devices as to guarantee a safe return to the people, SANA reporter added.

On December 29, tens of gunmen along with their families left Beit Jinn area to Idleb and Daraa under the supervision of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent within the framework of the reached agreement.
