More than 13,000 hectares cultivated with wheat in Tartous

Tartous  (ST) – The areas cultivated with wheat crop in Tartous governorate since the beginning of the agricultural season until now have reached 13468 hectares.

In a statement to SANA reporter on Wednesday, the Head of the Plant Production Department at the Tartous Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Muhammad Hassan, said that the turnout of farmers on wheat cultivation was good, clarifying that the areas cultivated with wheat exceeded the set agricultural plan, which is 12086 hectares, while the area cultivated with barley reached 487 hectares.

Hassan stated that all agricultural requirements are available in terms of seeds, fuel and fertilizers .

Hassan referred to the role of the guiding units in helping farmers organize their and in encouraging them to plant and specifying their needs, in cooperation with agricultural associations.

He indicated that the area cultivated with legumes reached to 53.14 hectares, while the area cultivated with winter vegetables reached 1554 hectares.
