More than 1.2 million hectares in Syria have so far been cultivated with wheat

Director of Agricultural Production at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Ahmad Haidar has revealed that 1, 211,677 hectares of cultivable lands in Syria have been cultivated with both irrigated and rain-fed wheat.

The number constitutes 89% of this year’s set agricultural plan for planting wheat crop, Haidar clarified in a statement to SANA.

He also said that the quantity of the wheat seeds distributed to farmers has so far reached 53109 tons.

According to Haidar, the areas cultivated with legume crops, including lentils, chickpeas, broad beans and peas, have reached 99218 hectares.
