More than 1,000 families return to Daraya, south-west Damascus

On November 3rd,more than 1000 families returned to the city of Daraya and 125 shops were opened after their owners rebuilt them and after the gradual improvement of the service situation in it.

The Mayor of Municipal Council of Daraya Marwan Obeid said that that the number of families who returned to Daraya is increasing  monthly as the city is starting to recover with the joint efforts of the Municipal Council, the people and the economic activities that intensified their activity to open their shops in order to resume their crafts, especially carpentry and wood furniture .

Obeid said that the work to remove the rubble from streets is not finished because the rebuilding process is still going on.

He added that the Municipal Council provides the residents with services especially with 200 bags of bread daily.

“The Municipal Council will rebuild  the Daraya bakery in the coming three months. The bakery will produce daily six tons of bread,” Obaid said. “Six electricity generation centers were installed in Daraya.”
