More Participation in the 61st Session of Damascus International Fair

Damascus – Three months before its opening, the General Organization for International Exhibitions and Markets is working in coordination with all ministries and economic, commercial, industrial, agricultural and service organizations is working to hold the 61st session of the Damascus International Fair in next August.

Director General of the General Organization for Exhibitions and International Markets, Ghassan Al-Fakiani, said in an interview with SANA on Monday, the number of international participants in this session is promising, especially from countries such as China, Russia, India, South Africa, Algeria, Lebanon, Iraq, Oman, UAE and Iran, pointing out that the reserved market spaces reached 78733 square meters whereas the number of the countries participated last year mounted 15. 

“The 61st session of the Fair will be held under the theme “From Damascus to the World”. The most important messages are the beginning of the reconstruction phase, the return of the production wheel , the recovery of the economy, national investment and the international participation re messages that reaffirm the strength and importance of Syria in the region and the world and its ability to achieve victory and break the siege and unilateral coercive measures imposed on it” Mr. Al-Fakiani said.

He added that the sale market will be distinguished by this year’s session and will be attended by specialized exhibitions in the field of agriculture, banking and insurance, pointing out that the pavilions will be ready for delivery to participants by the beginning of next August.

The total area of the exhibition city, which opened in 2003 at its new headquarters on the international airport road, is 1.2 million square meters. The total area of the Fir is 83,000 square meters and the exposed exhibition space is 150,000 square meters.

The Foundation is work according, to Al-Fakiani, to complete all preparations in this session to be more distinguished than previous years through the maintenance and rehabilitation of public sites to provide all the necessary services for participants and visitors.

Regarding the technical program for the 61 fair, Al-Fakiani said that it will include folkloric sections, artistic teams and participation by Syrian and Arab artists, which will be announced later.
