More demands for ending the occupation’s aggression marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people
As the Israeli occupation continues its aggression against the Palestinian people and its crimes of genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip, the Palestinians and the world today commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which was approved by the UN General Assembly in 1977, which coincides with the anniversary of the day on which the Assembly adopted Resolution No. 181 of 1947 known as the unjust partition decision that planted the usurping Israeli entity on the land of Palestine.
The United Nations announced that it had approved this day with the aim of focusing the international community’s attention on the fact that the Palestinian people have not yet obtained their inalienable rights as defined by the international organization, which are the right to self-determination without external interference, the right to national independence and sovereignty, and the right of refugees to return to their homes from which the occupation had displaced them.
On November 29, 2012, Palestine joined the UN as a non-member observer state, and on September 30, 2015, the Palestinian flag was raised in front of the UN headquarters and offices around the world.
The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, confirmed that the Israeli occupation continues to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity, noting that the lives of 2.4 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are in danger due to the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the occupation’s aggression against the strip since the seventh of last October.
Mansour pointed out that more than 15,000 people were martyred in the Strip, including at least 6,150 children and 4,000 women, without including thousands of people trapped under the rubble, in addition to the injury of more than 36,000.
He also noted that more than 240 Palestinians, including 55 children, have been martyred in the West Bank, more than 3,000 have been injured, more than 3,200 have been detained and 1150 Palestinians have been displaced since the start of the aggression against the Strip.
He called on the international community to stop the Israeli aggression against Gaza, put an end to the apartheid system and end the occupation that poses a threat the existence of the Palestinians in their homeland.
Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League Muhannad Al-Aklouk stated that the policy of colonialism and apartheid in the West Bank continues, pointing to the continued attempts of the occupation to Judaize the occupied city of Al-Quds, the eternal capital of Palestine.
For its part, the Palestinian resistance called on the free people of the world to escalate all forms of mass movements, events and marches in solidarity with Gaza Strip in all cities and capitals, and to raise the voice loudly in rejection and denunciation of the Zionist aggression and the crimes of genocide committed by the occupation.
It is noteworthy that on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, cultural events and political and public solidarity festivals are also held by solidarity movements, political committees, and free people of the world, in addition to events held by Palestinian embassies.
