DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE – A number of abductees, including women and children, who have been kidnapped by armed groups in the Eastern Ghouta in Damascus Countryside were released on Friday, according to SANA.

SANA reporter stated that the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), evacuated a number of kidnapped civilians, mostly women and children, adding that the abductees were released as part of the agreement reached to evacuate humanitarian cases and abductees held by armed groups in the Eastern Ghouta.

The released civilians spoke about their kidnapping and suffering due to severe shortages of essential medicines and food because of the terrorist groups’ practices, expressing gratitude to the SARC and concerned authorities for helping them.

The SARC said in a statement that the organization’s volunteers, in cooperation with the ICRC, have transported 85 humanitarian cases from eastern Ghouta to hospitals in Damascus to receive required treatment.
