More 128 gunmen in Rural Damascus Turned themselves to Competent Authorities

DAMASCUS,(ST) _Some 128 gunmen from Madamet Kalamoon,Maloula and Jbaadin in rural Damascus who were involved in current events, turned themselves yesterday to the competent authorities to regularize their status.

According to a police source, status of the said 128 gunmen was regularized at endeavors of reconciliation committees in these towns after they pledged not to undertake any action that would prejudice the safety and security of the country.

On Wednesday 176 wanted persons and gunmen from Rheibeh and Jeiroud towns  surrendered to competent authorities to regularize their status, and others to be followed in the coming days.

Since the beginning of this September number of surrendered gunmen and wanted persons reached 748 from Kalamoon, Maloula, Jbaadin,Jeiroud, Rheibeh, Zabadani and Bassima while other 801 had surrendered during last August from the towns of Madaya, Bassima, Zabadani, Kanaker and Beit Sahm towns.

In June, 99 militants from al-Kesweh and Babila areas surrendered themselves with their weapons to the competent authorities, while 84 militants from al-Tell, Maloula,Jbaadin, Zakia, al-Teibeh Almqilbah and Ein Beida surrendered in May.
