Damascus, (ST) – Exhibitions are considered important means for the recovery of the industrial sectors in Syria,to attract customers and new to support the exhibition and diversification to promote local products at home and abroad and raising the level of exports.
In this context, the Director General of Development and Export Promotion Association (DEPA) Eng. Ihab Asmander said to local press on the sidelines of the “Modatex” specialized exhibition, which is currently being held at the Dama Rose Hotel, that Syrian exports recorded an increase of 8 percent in 2014 for the year 2013 and through the first and second quarters of the year 2015 achieved a 10 percent increase from the same period of 2014, confirming that it is a step in the right direction but it is not sufficient.

Chairman of the Clothing Committee in the Syrian Exporters’ Federation Akram Qattout pointed out that the opening of the exhibition came to activate the market between the merchant and the industrial and it is an opportunity to introduce products of the winter season, indicating that the exhibition includes various kinds and types of clothing “men, women and children” of all ages as well as leather goods.
Mr. Qattout pointed out that the Syrian textile industry is ancient and enjoys authenticity at the level of the world.
He said that the tasks of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation is to make a program to the Syrian producer for the disposal of production during the preparation of holding exhibitions in order to market the product before and after the season and bring foreign exchange to the state treasury.
