Moallem: US and its Allies Seriousness in Fighting terrorism requires Stopping Supporting Terrorists

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem confirmed that the seriousness of the US and its allies in the fight against terrorism requires immediate stop of supporting, funding, arming and training terrorist organizations, in coordination with the Syrian state.

In an interview with Russia Today RT Channel yesterday Moallem indicated that if the US is serious in the fight against “Daesh” and other terrorist organizations It should has begun moving through the UN without excluding Russia, Iran and Syria.

“There should be a distinction between an international effort within the framework of the UNSC resolution 2170 to combat the terrorism of (Daesh) and (al-Nusra front ) and other al-Qaeda linked organizations and the US hidden and its allies intentions, particularly that members of the international coalition are the countries which conspired against Syria since more than three years ago, when they funded, trained, armed terrorists and smuggled them to Syria, including Daesh terrorists who came from 83 countries. “

He doubted the desire of the US and its allies to maintain a political solution in Syria because they are training armed groups in preparation to deploy them into Syria to fight the Syrian army and therefore to perpetuate the crisis and blow up a political solution.

He emphasized that any violation of the Syrian sovereignty is but an aggression, pointing out that Syria is ready to cooperate and coordinate in order to cope with the terrorism of Daesh and al-Nusra Front, according to UN resolution 2170.

He explained that Russia and Syria are partners in the fight against terrorism since more than three years and Syria receives t Russian military support, enabling its own capabilities in the fight against terrorism.

He also noted Syria’s continued coordination with Russia, Iran, and “BRICS” states, indicating that Moscow which used its veto four times can not let a resolution under Chapter VII to pass, if it is detrimental to Syria’s sovereignty.

“Some European countries conducted security contacts with Syria for information about their citizens who were fighting with the terrorist organizations,” Moallem said noting that these countries are now worried over the return of these terrorists to them because they wanted them to be killed in Syria.
