Moallem : Turkey is Strategic Depth of “Daesh”
DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem said that the Israeli occupation entity attempt to create a security belt near the occupied Syrian Golan will fail thanks to the Syrian Army and people resistance just as it did in southern Lebanon, thanks to the Lebanese national resistance.
in an exclusive interview with Al-Alam TV yesterday al-Moallem described the Israeli policy in this respect as short-sighted, noting the military effort by the Syrian army and people resistance in the occupied Golan to challenge ” al-Nusra front ” terrorists and the Israeli schemes.
He added that “Israel” was and continues to be behind everything, as admitted by its war minister, Moshe Yaalon, who highlighted cooperation with al-Nusra front ” and providing it with logistical and military services and, considering that “Daash” is not an enemy for “Israel”.
He explained that the risks Syria has been experiencing for nearly five years, is a war in the full sense of the word and also a US-led international conspiracy, followed by the EU and countries in the region, including Turkey and some Gulf countries, pointing out that this conspiracy is targeting Syria’s steadfastness against the Israeli aggression and the US hegemony.
Moallem pointed out that the problem of UN envoys to Syria has been their inability to convince terrorism supporting countries to stop it, such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Jordan besides the US and its allies lack of commitment to the two UN resolutions 2170 and 2178 relating to counter-terrorism, rather they violated the two resolutions through training more terrorists under the pretext that they are “moderate opposition”.
He stressed that Turkey is a strategic depth for Daesh and a market for trading its thefts of oil and wheat and others and a haven for providing medical treatment for wounded terrorists in Syria and therefore Turkey cannot join Washington alliance to fight it, in addition to related ideological reasons.
“We distinguish between our relations with the brotherly people of Jordan and its rulers,” al-Moallem said, adding that it is in the interest of Jordan and other Gulf states to cooperate with Syria in order to combat terrorism because no one is immune of it”, regretting how Jordan can fight terrorism in northern Syria, while encouraged it on its border with it.
He stressed that relations with Saudi Arabia were severed, at the desire of the Saudi side and its is no longer a secret to the support it has been providing to terrorists in Syria, including the Army of Islam, which bombed civilians in Damascus, besides Daesh emergence with the Wahhabi ideology, sponsored by Saudi Arabia.
“Egypt is having today two choices, either to stay at the current size or to return to its leading role in the Arab region, especially that killers of the Egyptian army in Sinai are the same who attack Syria and its brave army.”
Moallem reiterated that the Syrian relations with Iran and Russia, are strategic, covering various fields and that the three countries are consulting and communicating on an ongoing basis on various issues.
