Moallem: Fighting Terrorism is the Duty of Every Syrian

GENEVA,(ST)_ Head of the official delegation of Syria to Geneva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem stressed that the fight against terrorism is the duty of every Syrian to preserve their lands pointing out that the agreement on counter-terrorism provision reassures us that the partner in building the country ‘s future should focus on the return of security and safety to Syria.

In a news conference with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov he said “We had useful and fruitful discussions focused on cooperation and coordination between Syria and Russia, as well as topics included in Geneva dialogue, noting a common understanding on how to progress the dialogue at this conference in implementation of ” Geneva 1 “.

In response to a question about the unprecedented escalation of terrorism in Syria and the armed groups  massacre committed  in Maan and their today ‘s crime in Aldoaah village in Quneitra countryside in line with the current talks and the threat to hold Syria responsible Moallem explained that, “without doubt the Geneva document emphasizes the need to create atmospheres of security and stability and the international climate conducive to the Geneva talks,unfortunately enemies, whether we were in Geneva, or not continue plotting and terrorizing in Syria. “

For his part, Gatilov emphasized that a political solution is the only way to solve all the problems in Syria and put an end to violence and terrorism and create conditions for a prosperous future for Syria and its people, pointing out that the meeting with Minister Moallem was fruitful and “ we are very satisfied with these talks”.

Gatilov hoped that ” talks will continue in Geneva on the ground of Geneva statement and the Syrian government delegation to hold constructive talks.”

Replying a question on Russia’s position on cessation of violence and counter-terrorism, the item which the Syrian government delegation insists to start,Gatilov explained ” Our position is fixed that terrorist threat is very serious and we are aware of the threat of terrorism, which does not only endanger the Syrian people but the whole region “

“The timing of Russia’s  submission of a draft resolution to the UN on the fight against terrorism is clear because we have always said that there is a terrorist threat in Syria and that it  is spreading widely and we make an effort to fight it.” He emphasized.

Gatilov continued that ” the fight against terrorism and discussing the transitional governing body are two important issues,” expressing his belief that a solution will be found for them within the course of the talks in Geneva.
