Miqdad: World must choose between supporting Syrian government and supporting terrorist organizations
DAMASCUS,(ST)_Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister has underscored that the ‘moderate opposition’ is composed of terrorist organizations.
Faisal al-Miqdad, who was speaking in a meeting today with a delegation representing Fearab Venezuela delegation, added that the world has one of two choices: either to back the Syrian government in its war against terrorism or back terrorist organizations such as Daesh [IS] and al-Nusra Front.
He asserted that those whom the western countries describe as ‘moderate opposition’ is composed of terrorist organizations that have killed Syrian civilians and have destroyed institutes in Syria.
“Fighting terrorism and enhancing national reconciliation are priorities for the Syrian government in the current stage,” al-Miqdad said.
On the other hand, he described Venezuela’s winning a seat on the UN Security Council as a ‘victory’ for Syria and all countries which are against imperialism and Zionism.
On his part, the Head of Fearab organization Adel al-Zgher said that the delegations’ visit to Syria aims at expressing solidarity of Venezuela’s people and leadership and Syrian community with Syria’s people and leadership in confronting terrorism and US-western intervention in Syria’s internal affairs.
“President Bashar al-Assad has become an international icon for steadfastness and defending the developing countries’ sovereignty and independence,” al-Zgher added.
