Miqdad to Pedersen: The importance of avoiding any external interference in the work of the Constitutional Debate Committee
On December 12th, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Geir Pedersen and the accompanying delegation.
The discussion revolved around developments in the situation in Syria and the course of the political process.
Al-Miqdad referred to the subversive role of the Turkish regime and its aggressive and inhuman practices, whether through its lack of commitment to the output of Astana and the Turkification policies in the areas it occupies, or cutting off water from our people in Hasaka, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
Al-Miqdad pointed out that the Turkish measures come within the framework of Turkey’s continuous support for terrorist groups and its desperate attempts to impede international humanitarian law.
For his part, Pedersen presented the course of his recent tour in a number of countries and the continuation of efforts to hold the next round of the committee to discuss the constitution.
In this regard, Al-Miqdad stressed the importance of avoiding any external interference in the work of the committee, and that the dialogue should be Syrian-Syrian.
Al-Miqdad expressed the aspirations of the Syrians and not serving the agendas of countries hostile to Syria, praising the performance of the national side and its positive contributions to the work of the committee.
