BEIRUT, (ST) _ Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Faisal Miqdad stressed that when the war on Syria began in 2011, some in Syria and abroad lost the “compass” and believed that what happening was the “Arab Spring” which would bring the Arab citizen in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen democracy, freedom and human rights, but subsequent weeks, months and years proved they were but “mirage”.
In an article published yesterday in the Lebanese al-Binaa newspaper Dr. Miqdad pointed out that “Daash” and so-called “free army, al-Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations crimes of cutting the throats of hundreds, if not thousands of Syrians also deserves the attention of the US and the West, if they are honest in their defense of human rights and have the intention to avert terrorism.”
He pointed out that all those should be ashamed of themselves and the crimes they committed or encouraged in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, and against the Egyptian people and army.
Miqdad continued that Syria informed all sides concerned that fighting terrorism in Syria and abroad is the “first priority” and the second priority is to achieve “local reconciliation” in all parts of Syria and to stop bloodshed and terror, adding that the Syrian leadership stressed the need to create a framework for a political solution to the crisis in Syria, crowned with anti-terrorism efforts and “local reconciliation” efforts in all parts of Syria, as a way for resolving the crisis.
In conclusion of his article Dr. Miqdad emphasized that the logic and UN Security Council resolutions against Daesh terrorist say that it is now the task of humanity to combat Daesh terrorism and that Syria stands at the forefront in addressing this terrorist organization, noting a natural conclusion that those who fight against Daesh should stand alongside Syria in the war against it, thereby those who want to fight against this terrorist organization should stand with Syria.
