Miqdad: The visit of Omani Foreign Minister is pivotal and comes within the framework of joint Arab action
On January 31st, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Miqdad discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi issues of common interest.
In a statement to reporters after the talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Minister Miqdad stressed the importance of the visit, which comes within the framework of joint Arab action and Arab solidarity and establishing the best relations between Arab countries.
Minister Miqdad said: “This visit is pivotal and important and plays a role in intensifying close relations between the two friendly countries and peoples and between President Bashar al-Assad and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.”
“ The visit was an opportunity for the Minister to meet with President al-Assad and raise important issues in the framework of joint Arab action and the establishment of the best relations between our Arab countries to correct past mistakes and build the present and the future for all our peoples,” Minister Miqdad said.
Minister Miqdad added: “We are in deep understanding of each other and we also found that we and the Sultanate of Oman are united and strong in the context of stressing the importance of one Arab position to face the challenges facing our countries and peoples.”
For his part, Al-Busaidi said: “I was honored to meet President Bashar Al-Assad and to convey the greetings and message of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to the Syrian leadership and to the brotherly Syrian people. The message expressed the authenticity of the relations between the two countries and peoples.”
Al-Busaidi asserted: “We discussed joint economic, commercial and cultural relationships with Minister Miqdad in more detail. We hope that the coming period will witness a renewed movement for this relationship between the two countries in various promising fields of cooperation.”
Al-Busaidi added: “ With regard to work at the Arab level, there are good efforts being made by many countries at the present time to reunite, correct the mistakes of the past, and take a more futuristic view of the relations of joint Arab cooperation and solidarity.”
In response to a question about Syria’s return to the Arab League, Minister Miqdad said: “The last meeting of Arab foreign ministers was consultative in which some Arab issues were discussed in an informal way. We are always optimistic about the present and future of our nation. Syria is at the center of joint Arab action.”
In turn, Al-Busaidi said in response to the same question: “We are optimistic about these meetings and dialogues, and we believe in the end that only what is correct will be… and what is correct is the boosting of Arab-Arab relations.”
