DAMASCUS,(ST)_Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister has underscored the need for boosting the strategic cooperation between Syria and Iraq to confront challenges that face the two countries.
Faisal al-Miqdad said that the Syrian government is ready to enhance political, economic and military relations with Iraq for the common interest of the two countries.
“Policies of some regional and international countries that support terrorism are behind the suffering of the Syrian and Iraqi peoples,” he added.
His remarks came during his today’s meeting with a delegation representing the Iraqi Farmers Union headed by Sheikh Hasan al-Tamimi.
On his part, al-Shiekh al-Tamimi said that the conspiracy against both Iraq and Syria necessitates unity to confront it and its tools in the two countries.
He pointed out that that the visiting delegation, which represents all Iraqi provinces, reflects the Iraqi people’s will to consolidate unity with the Syrian people.
