Miqdad, during his meeting with Rajoub: Syria and Palestine are constantly confronting the Israeli occupation and its violations
On January 9th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, met with Major General Jibril Rajoub, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement “Fatah” and the accompanying delegation.
The two sides discussed the situation in Syria, Palestine and the region.
At the beginning of the meeting, Major General Rajoub handed Minister Miqdad a message addressed to President Bashar al-Assad by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Minister Miqdad affirmed Syria’s support for the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights, including the establishment of their independent state on their land.
Minister Miqdad pointed out that Syria and Palestine face the Israeli occupation and its aggressions, practices and violations of international legitimacy on an ongoing basis.
Minister Miqdad noted the importance of unifying Palestinian factions and dialogue among them for the benefit of the Palestinian people.
The Minister condemned the Israeli occupation practices against the Palestinian people and the crimes committed by (Israel) and settlement policies and annexation of lands.
Minister Miqdad said that (Israel) decisions against the people of the occupied Syrian Golan and against the Palestinian people represent war crimes and crimes against humanity and contradict the resolutions of international legitimacy.
For his part, Major General Rajoub stressed the Palestinian leadership’s adherence to its principled positions in establishing a sovereign Palestinian state and the right of refugees to return and to resist occupation by all means.
Major General Rajoub congratulated the Syrian people and leadership on the victories that were achieved against terrorism, calling for the lifting of the unilateral coercive sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.
Major General Rajoub affirmed Fatah’s desire to communicate and hold dialogue with all Palestinian parties to reach a strong position that defends Palestinian rights on the regional and international arenas.
The meeting was attended on the Syrian side by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Othman Saab, Director of the Department of Arab Affairs, Roa Sharbaji from the Minister’s office.
It was attended by the Palestinian side by Rawhi Ftouhi and Ahmed Helles, members of the Central Committee of Fatah Movement, and the Palestinian ambassador in Damascus, Samir Al-Rifai.
