Miqdad Discusses with Velayati Bilateral Relations, Issues of Common Interest

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed with Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran for International Affairs, strategic bilateral relations and regional as well as international issues of common interest.

During the meeting, which took place in Tehran on Tuesday the 7th of December 2021, Miqdad stressed the historical depth of relations between Syria and Iran, pointing out that they have reached a stage that has become difficult to undermine thanks to the steadfastness of the peoples of the two countries and the wisdom of their leadership, noting the role of Velayati in consolidating these relations and keeping pace with them since their beginnings.

Miqdad reviewed the current situation in Syria, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation and joint coordination in all fields to achieve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

For his part, Velayati affirmed Iran’s continued support for Syria’s leadership and people at all levels, noting the achievements made by the Syrian Arab Army in confronting terrorism, which established a new phase of cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari.
