The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed with the Advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran for International Affairs, Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
Minister Miqdad valued the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its leadership in support of Syria, noting the joint efforts of the two countries in confronting the occupation, terrorism and the illegal US, Western and Turkish interference in the Syrian territories.
For his part, Velayati affirmed that Syria is the most important link in the axis of resistance and in defending just causes in the region and the world, stressing that Iran will not hesitate to provide full support to Syria in various fields.
Velayati pointed out the importance of joint action between the parties of the axis of resistance to expel the US occupation from Syria, pointing out that the Zionist entity and its supporters are unable to weaken Syria and undermine its national resistance decision.
Minister Miqdad also discussed with Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber the reality of bilateral relations between Syria and Iran and ways to enhance them to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
During the meeting in Tehran today, Mokhber affirmed his country’s desire to deepen these relations, especially the economic ones to rise to the level of political relations between the two countries, pointing out that President Bashar al-Assad’s visit to Tehran recently constituted a starting point and a work program to advance and strengthen economic relations between Syria and Iran.
Minister Miqdad thanked Iran for standing by Syria in the circumstances it is going through, stressing the Syrian government’s keenness to improve relations between the two countries.
Miqdad affirmed Syria’s full support for Iran in all the measures Tehran has taken and is taking to lift the illegal US sanctions imposed on it and revive the nuclear agreement in a way that guarantees the Iranian people’s interests and rights in the nuclear field and all other fields, blaming the US administration for obstructing the agreement.
