Miqdad discusses with the Speaker of the Algerian National Assembly the bilateral relations between the two countries
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, has discussed today with the Speaker of the Algerian National Assembly, Saleh Goudjil, the bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Minister Miqdad stressed the importance of the role of parliaments in defending the rights of peoples who suffer from occupation and terrorism in all its forms, including economic terrorism represented by unilateral coercive measures implemented by the United States of America and its European allies against the Syrian people.
Minister Miqdad gave a presentation on political developments at the Arab and international levels, expressing his happiness to participate with the brothers in Algeria in celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of their country’s independence and the restoration of its national sovereignty.
In turn, Goudjil expressed his pride in the deep brotherly relations between the two brotherly peoples, noting the steadfastness of the Syrian people and their leadership against terrorism and conspiracies, stressing his country’s refusal to interfere in the internal affairs of countries.
The Algerian National Assembly Speaker explained that Syria is a founding and essential member of the Arab League and has a pivotal role in joint Arab action, pointing out that Algeria is working through parliamentary diplomacy to support the Syrian position on various Arab and international arenas.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the Algerian Parliament and the Syrian People’s Assembly at the regional and international levels. The two sides further stressed the need to continue strengthening relations between the Syrian and Algerian parliamentarians in order to achieve the common goals they seek to embody in the Arab reality.
In a statement to reporters after the meeting, Minister Miqdad valued the positions of the Algerian parliamentarians who stood with Syria in all circumstances.
