Miqdad discusses with Pedersen the Constitutional Committee
On December 12th, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Faisal Miqdad, received the UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the possibility of holding a seventh round of meetings of the committee to discuss amending the constitution.
It was expected that the committee would be held in the middle of this month, but there is a possibility that it might be postponed until after Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and perhaps until the beginning of next February.
Minister Miqdad had confirmed in a television interview he conducted on the twenty-ninth of last month, that the Special Envoy, Geir Pedersen, was supposed to visit Syria, but the visit was postponed due to the new Corona mutation .
The last visit of the UN envoy to Syria took place on the eleventh of last September.
