Miqdad discusses with Nepalese military delegation bilateral cooperation and tasks of (UNDOF) forces
Damascus (ST): Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad discussed today with a Nepalese military delegation, which included Army Commander Prabhu Raj Sharma and Defense Minister Kiran Raj Sharma, the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and the role of the Nepalese battalion in the UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).
Minister Miqdad stressed during the meeting that Syria considers the presence of the United Nations peacekeeping forces important, but it must be temporary because the stability of the region requires compliance with the relevant Security Council resolutions, which consider Israel’s decision to annex the Golan null and void and has no legal effect.
Minister Miqdad pointed to the need to deepen bilateral relations between Syria and Nepal in all fields, especially in the political and economic fields.
For his part, the Nepalese army commander thanked the Syrian state for welcoming the presence of the Nepalese battalion within the framework of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Forces (UNDOF), stressing its commitment to its tasks within the framework of the United Nations work on the ceasefire lines in the occupied Syrian Golan and the principles of respect for the sovereignty and independence of Syria.
The commander of the Nepalese army pointed to the need to strengthen relations between the two countries, considering that this visit is the first step in this framework.
