Miqdad discusses with Khaji the next round of Astana talks

Tehran, (ST) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed in Tehran  with the Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali AsgharKhaji the next round of Astana talks scheduled to be held in the second half of this month

The two sides also discussed the latest developments regarding the meetings of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution.

 During the meetingMiqdad presented Khaji with the latest political and field developments in Syria, in particular what the Syrian government has achieved in the field of national reconciliations and restoring security and stability in most of the Syrian territories

He stressed Syria’s position rejecting the illegal presence of Turkish forces inside Syrian territories. He also called for Turkey compliance to its commitments under the agreements reached within the framework Astana.

In turn, Khaji reiterated Iran’s support for the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria, as well as to the efforts exerted in combating terrorism.
