Sukhum (ST): Foreign and Expatriate Minister Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of Abkhazia Beslan Djoboa prospects for developing bilateral economic relations.
Djoboa stressed during the meeting held in Abkhazia his country’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Syria in all fields, expressing his country’s great appreciation for the decision of the Syrian Arab Republic government to recognize the sovereignty and independence of Abkhazia.
In turn, Dr. Miqdad pointed out that the decision to recognize the independence of Abkhazia by Syria and establish diplomatic relations between the two countries is an affirmation of the depth of the historical relations that bind the two peoples and built on solid foundations of common principles, foremost of which is the right of peoples to self-determination, rejecting any external interference and resisting the policies of hegemony and colonialism.
During the meeting, the agreements signed between the two countries and mechanisms for expanding economic cooperation in all areas of common interest were discussed. It was also agreed to hold the next meeting of the Syrian-Abkhaz joint committee as soon as possible.
The two sides condemned the siege policies and unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States of America and Western countries on the peoples who refuse to submit to the policies of the West.
